Logic for Not Having a Baby

A. It is too ugly and painful to give birth.

B. It takes much time and energy to look after a baby. I'd rather use the free time to enjoy life.

C. The presence of a baby will always remind me of the aging self, no, I don't need such a terrible mirror.

D. The world is hopelessly treachrous and dangerous, I don't want my baby to come into the world full of crimes, disasters, pollutions as well as corruptions.

E. I don't want to bear a child for somebody I don't love.

F. I am not sure whether I am prepared to be good parents.

G. Babies are annoying, terrible creatures, not even as good as a pet.

The idea to find out what Dinks think about baby struck me as I met a pregnant old friend. So far, I have thought up the above seven interesting reasons for not having a baby with one's partner. Any more? Umh, guess sentence G is not the last answer.

Love of Music Made My Day

Working with a handsome boss is a blessing. But imagine working with a handsome hypocrite. Such a nightmare might last all one's lifetime. For me, I will vomit my stomach out and no longer give even a glance at any handsome man.

Being liked by a stranger made me feel so much like a million dollars that I soon left behind the terrible speculation about my new superior. Whatever he is, he's of nothing or little importance to my life. The fact that I had received words of love from others weighs above alI. Suddenly I realized the importance of the issue. It didn't mean that I knew nothing about love before. Just the time for me to feel its true power, like an earthquake, shaking off all my dark negative thoughts and instilling kindness and softness into my heart. Love makes me a better woman.Much better than I can imagine.

Certainly, no need to limit this love only to the one between men and women. In fact, what I've heard are passionate praises from a wife who liked the songs I shared with her via my Realplayer. For a moment, I did have concerns about her sexual orientation as she blurted out her love for me. However, later I was relieved to know that she actually loved my taste of music.

Bombardment of praises immediately washed away unpleasant thoughts lurking in my head. At her request, I reopened my "music channel" and was absorbed into the wonderful world of music together with her afterwards.

She thanked me a lot before leaving the chatroom where we both stayed for long. Yet I wanted to thank her here for magically lightening up my gloomy day. Our common love of music has made my day.

Doubts about Civilization

What is civilization?

Is civilization a universal notion?

Is it a rule that the urban is more civilized than the rural?

Is it true that the country always follow the city into so-called civilization and have to be so?If it is so, what is the exact working mechanism?

So far as China is concerned, it seems that unburnization is the only destination of modernization. Does the shrinking of rural areas really help enhance the process of civilization or unfortunately go the other way round?

In my opinion, the one-way flow of rural elites into cities provided, the worst is yet to come. With current Chinese education including little or nothing of country knowledge, the future builders of Chinese civilization have nothing but modern cities in their minds. Either longing for a better life in cities or having no feeling for the countryside, most Chinese people, whether conciously or unconciously, admire the city while ignore the country. Ironically, despite still being an agricultural society, China if not neglects at least marginalizes farmers and farming and countries in its education. The vicious circle thus begins. It is not difficult to imagine the concequences of such biased, urban-oriented education. Meanwhile, the focus on economic development whithout effective moral building has already led the outbreak of evils and malices in human nature both in city and country. The traditionally less civilized rural area, which is likely to lag behind further from the urban area in the unfair struggle for modern civilization , is witnessing and will find itself unable to get out of the dire mud. Is there any feasible method to bridge the gap between the city and the country? Or at least to stop the gap widening, to stimulate and keep a two-way interacation between them?
